Which Analysis Do I Need?

Basic Identification Analysis

Identify the Primary Substances in Your Sample

This method is ideal for identifying what your substance is, and avoiding potential mislabelings or mistaken identifications. This method identifies the primary components within your sample, and other possible primary substances (adulterants) that make up more than 20% of the sample. This method will NOT detect compounds in very small amounts (trace impurities and potent adulterants in microgram amounts).

This method is NOT recommended for pills, due to the large amount of fillers and low level of active substance. MDMA/Ecstasy pills are the exception, and can typically be identified with this method.

This Package Works With:

  • Powders
  • Crystalline
  • Blotters
  • Liquids

Method of Analysis:

  • FTIR Spectroscopy
  • NIR Spectroscopy

Results Include:

  • Full report of the analysis
  • Adulteration status
  • Active substances found (that make up >20% of your sample)
  • Raw data from the analyzed sample

Basic Purity Analysis

Get the Percent Purity of the Main Substance in Your Sample

This Package Works With:

  • MDMA (± 13.6%)
  • MDMA pills (ecstasy) (± 7.3%)
  • Cocaine (± 14.7%)
  • Amphetamine (± 6.9%)
  • Methamphetamine (± 9.8%)
  • Ketamine (± 5%)
  • 2-FDCK (± 25%)
  • Heroin (± 4.2%)
  • THC (± 2%)
  • CBD (± 1%)
  • 2-MMC (± 25%)

Reminder: this test can only detect these major compounds listed above in your sample, and will only quantify the main compound. If you want to detect minor or trace adulterants and impurities, please use the full qualitative or full quantitative test

This method is ideal for measuring the amount of the main active substances in your sample. Using NIR technology we provide you a report with the percent purity (the amount of active substance) of the main compound in your sample.

This package does NOT identify/detect minor compounds or adulterants in the sample—use the Complete Analysis for that purpose!

Method of Analysis: NIR Spectroscopy

Results Include:

  • Full report of the analysis
  • Percent purity/amount of active substances in your sample
  • Raw data from the analyzed sample

Full Identification Analysis

Identify the Primary Substance + Impurities in Your Sample

This method is ideal if you want to identify your substance, and you suspect your sample to contain potent adulterants in small amounts. This method identifies both primary components and minor impurities within your sample. While it determines the substances present, it does NOT assess their purity or quantify their amounts. We may report relative quantities (‘major´ or ‘minor´ components) if there are several substances found in vastly different amounts, such as a major substance plus trace impurities. No further quantitative information will be given.

This Package Works With:

  • Powders
  • Pills
  • Crystalline
  • Blotters
  • Liquids
  • Extracts
  • Oils
  • Gel Tabs
  • Gummies
  • Chocolates

Method of Analysis (includes at least two of the following):

  • FTIR
  • NIR
  • LC-MS
  • NMR

Results Include:

  • Full report of the analysis
  • Adulteration status
  • Active substances found
  • Raw data from the analyzed sample

Complete Analysis (Identification + Purity)

Identify the Primary Substances + Impurities, & Get Percent Purity of Your Sample

This method is ideal to confirm the identity of your sample and assess its purity, or if you want to determine the strength of your substance. This method identifies primary components and minor impurities within the sample, and it determines how much of a substance is present in your sample (and/or its percent purity). With this analysis, we always report whether the expected substance is present or not (if it makes up >0.1 % of the sample) and will quantify it.

While compounds in minor amounts will be identified, their precise quantities will not be determined.

This Package Works With:

  • Powders
  • Pills
  • Crystalline
  • Blotters
  • Liquids
  • Extracts
  • Oils
  • Gel Tabs

Method of Analysis (includes at least two of the following):

  • FTIR
  • NIR
  • LC-MS
  • NMR

Results Include:

  • Full report of the analysis
  • Adulteration status
  • Active substances found
  • Percent purity/amount of active substances in your sample
  • Raw data from the analyzed sample

DISCLAIMER: There may be a few exceptional cases (less than 1% of the cases in our experience) where we will not be able to identify a substance, even using all of our analytical instruments and techniques, and therefore the result will be stated as “unknown substance found.”

Plant & Mushroom Complete Analysis (Identification + Purity)

Identify the Primary Substances + Impurities, & Get Percent Purity of Your Sample

This method is ideal if you want to test ethnobotanicals, plant-derived supplements, medicinal plants, extracts, teas, roots, leaves, bark, flowers, and medicinal mushrooms (such as lion’s mane or other pharmacologically active or ‘shamanic’ mushrooms). This method extracts, identifies, and quantifies (measures the amount) of main active components in the plant or mushroom, and identifies minor compounds present in trace amounts.

This option is best if you are planning to send plant material that requires extraction in the lab before testing. We will perform a thorough extraction and analysis of the compounds present in order to quantify them.

The main compounds will be quantified precisely in milligram amount or percent purity, while minor or obscure compounds may only get semi-quantitative information (for example: minor, trace amounts). We also test for pesticide residues.

This Package Works With:

  • Plants
  • Mushrooms
  • Teas
  • Roots
  • Bark
  • Leaves
  • Flowers

This package is NOT currently available for cannabis analysis. We can analyze cannabis with our Basic Purity Analysis.

NOTE: If you are planning to test an extract you made instead of the plant material itself, you can choose the cheaper, standard Complete Analysis.

Method of Analysis (includes at least two of the following):

  • FTIR
  • NIR
  • LC-MS
  • NMR

Results Include:

  • Full report of the analysis
  • Active substances found
  • Percent purity/amount of active substances in your sample
  • Raw data from the analyzed sample
